    • Expectation Experts! We reviewed the general classroom behavior expectations then I handed out a chart. Every time I point out an expectation being met (like having their supplies ready, maintaining appropriate level voices, or using kind words during partner discussions) they get to add a tally mark. We will be totaling the tallies each day, then on Friday. The top Expectation Experts will receive a certificate and get to pick an item from the prize bin. They took to this quickly and we had fun! I think it also acted as a great reminder of what is expected and they enjoy being highlighted for doing something positive. I will continue this for a few weeks.

    • Began Global Perspectives Unit highlighting research and analysis skills. Reviewed how to design clear, concise, questions and design a questionnaire. Working in pairs, they identified a local issue, created a questionnaire, received data, and analyzed the process and results. Then the groups presented their findings to the class, along with courses of action they could take to help with the local issues. We began a discussion about globalization then students identified good and bad points of being globally connected.
